God Calling For Compassion In Nigeria

Two days ago I shared with you that our friends in Nigeria were anticipating a massive attack against them and several other Christian villages in their region.  Please continue to pray for them as they are still in harm’s way.

Please also join me in trying to imagine what faith and life must be like for them.   Because of persecution in northern Nigeria during the last 8 years…

  • 100,000 people were violently killed.
  • 55,000 women became widows.
  • 52,000 children became orphans.
  • Countless women were raped.
  • 2,100,000 people were driven from their homes.
  • 30,000 children were separated from their parents.
  • 4,700,000 people are without access to food.
  • 900 churches were destroyed.

Our natural tendency is to read the statistics.  But our God who is compassionate feels the pain of each and every person.

Consider all of the cries of pain and suffering that rise without ceasing from Nigeria to the throne of God.  The Lord is remarkably and incomprehensibly bearing all of their burdens! HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD!!!

God is grieved and if we are to be a people after His heart, we must make room in our hearts to grieve with Him.  The eyes of the Lord are searching the earth for hearts that share His sorrow.*

Will you pause with me in a moment of silence to sorrow with the heart of God over His children in Nigeria? And compassionately pray for them?

Please share this message with your church and friends who love Jesus and pray.

Carry each other’s burdens,
and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
