Leah: 30 Days to Live — Urgent Prayer Request

The Islamic group Boko Haram has released a video of their execution of a 25-year-old aid worker. In the video, the spokesman also threatens to kill Nigerian Christian Leah Sharibu and two other hostages.

We have been following Leah since her kidnapping in February (see Her Name is Leah and Leah 6 Months After Being Kidnapped). Despite having never met, I’m starting to feel like I know her. But even as a father of two daughters, I still can’t even begin to fathom what she and her parents are going through. I am humbled by her resolve and perseverance. And I am sickened by her circumstances.

Three weeks ago, I brought you news of hope for Leah – a recording and image that proved she was still alive. I rejoiced in spirit, with her family and community…with all of you.

But Leah’s ordeal has quickly taken a heartbreaking turn. Boko Haram claims that the Nigerian government has been unresponsive to their demands. And, their execution of the aid worker, was their “message of blood,” and that Leah and the others will be executed next if their demands aren’t met within one month.

Brothers and sisters, I am writing to ask you for your help in prayer and in awareness. Please pray for Leah with your family, your fellow believers. Pray for the Nigerian government and President Buhari to do the right thing. Pray for God to intervene as only He can and release Leah unharmed.

Share Leah’s story with your friends and social networks with the hashtag #PrayForLeah and encourage them to pray for her as well. She needs the body of Christ to support her now more than ever.

Boko Haram doesn’t bluff. We have 30 days.

Mercy and truth be with you.
